It is situated on the west end of Malcolm Island, and marks the entrance to Broughton Strait from the Queen Charlotte Strait.
The site of the lighthouse is open, however there is no access inside the tower. A car and passenger ferry from Port McNeill to Sointula on Malcolm Island, operates daily by BC Ferries.
