Many of the west coast native art works depict legends, and stories of the rich and unique heritage of the First Nations people, while at the same time producing modern, and sophisticated contemporary art.

Just Art also offers an extensive range of arts by many esteemed Northern Vancouver Island painters of watercolors, oils, and acrylics, as well as a display of outstanding photography by award winning photographer Rolf Hicker.

Among the diverse collection of west coast native art, is a selection of Mata Ortiz pottery or Casas Grandes. These fine Mexican ceramics are handcrafted by the pueblo people, in the form of coiled pots or ollas. Each Olla is imprinted with re-creations of traditional ancestral symbols, or modern interpretations of the ceramicists of the lost civilization of Casas Grandes.

Stone Inuit carvings are a prominent feature at Just Art. Carving is an Inuit tradition which dates back centuries. Typical materials for carving include (but are not limited to) serpentine, serpentinite, steatite, and soapstone. Art forms vary depending on the geographic area, subject matter, and experiences of each artist.

You will also find an array of exquisitely handcrafted jewelry, and textiles by local crafters.
